Documentation that still matches the room next year.
Rack and network documentation has a short half-life. The handover pack is accurate on the day it is printed, and wrong by the third moves-adds-changes ticket. PortedUp keeps the rack, the ports, the VLANs and the cables as one live record you can trace end to end.
- Built for
- The people who build and hand over network and data infrastructure — and whoever inherits it.
- Replaces
- A labeled photo of the rack and a port spreadsheet that stopped matching reality on day two.
- Status
- In active development. The screens below are the product as it is being built, not a concept.
Inside the product
3 screensElevations from real equipment, not boxes you drew
Place gear from a catalog of actual models at actual rack units. Depth conflicts and overlaps are caught as you drag, so the elevation stays something you can order against and hand to an installer.
Every port, what is on it, and which VLAN it carries
A switch is a grid you can actually read: what is patched where, the access VLAN, the tagged VLANs, and the cable at the far end. Click a port and the path is traced through the patch panel to the outlet it terminates at.
A topology you did not have to draw
The diagram comes out of the cables you already recorded, so it cannot drift from the documentation the way a Visio file does. It goes into the handover pack along with the elevations, the port map and the labels.
What it does
- Rack elevations built from a catalog of real equipment
- Depth and overlap checks as you place gear
- Port maps with access and tagged VLANs
- Cable records traced end to end, switch to outlet
- IP address and VLAN registers
- Topology derived from the cables you recorded
- Printable labels for ports, cables and outlets
- Handover packs for the people who come next
Still being built
PortedUp is not released yet. If this is a problem you have, we would rather hear about it now, while the decisions are still open.
